Role Summary:

 

At Charles Tyrwhitt our purpose is to “Make it easy for men to dress well”. The primary purpose of the UX Designer is to drive, design and execute best-in-class user experiences across Charles Tyrwhitt’s digital commerce estate. We are looking for someone who is able to anticipate what our customers need and to design the experience for our digital future.

 

You will liaise with key stakeholders across the business along with the Head of UX, Head of Web Merchandising and the Ecommerce Director to understand business requirements and create researched, validated and designed change requirements for digital projects and enhancements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

*       Liaise with a number of departments to play a key role in defining and executing clear user experiences across our digital commerce estate

*       Work with senior level stakeholders to identify and gather requirements, design the vision and implement on that plan

*       Collaborate with technical teams and the business analyst to understand objectives and feasibility of proposals

*       Function as part of a close-knit team of CRO managers, business analysts, project managers, UI designers and developers

*       Leverage user research, analytics, industry research and customer service data to understand our customers better

*       Design, deliver and present low- through to mid/high-fidelity wireframes, mock-ups and functional prototypes

*       Work closely with UI designers to produce designs for user testing, business showcases or development

*       Define IT-appropriate requirements and be able to articulate your vision to both technical and non-technical audiences

*       Drive mobile-first innovation, and champion excellent UX and accessibility throughout the business by being the voice of the customer, always maintaining commercial focus 

 

Person Specification:

 

Experience Required

*       3+ years’ experience working in a related user-focused field (client or agency-side)

*       Experience gathering business and user requirements and translating these into workflows, wireframes and sitemaps

*       Solid understanding of user-centred design principles and methodologies

*       Exceptional ability to fluently communicate with stakeholders and teams around the business, both inside and outside of the UX field

*       Proven track-record of balancing practical user-friendly functionality with creative/brand vision

*       Must be comfortable and have experience of delivering fast and iterating (must understand the balance of “good enough” vs “perfection”)

*       Ability to work well under pressure with stretching deadlines

*       Strong analytical mindset, proactive in approach, self-confident, flexible and highly motivated

 

Technical Skills

*       Wireframing

*       Interactive functional prototyping

*       Typical UX tools (Adobe XD)

*       Journey maps/user flows/user personas

*       Experience rapidly designing for A/B and multi-variant testing

*       Understand information architecture and hierarchy

*       Design documentation hand off

*       Good understanding of HTML/CSS (to avoid designing for the impossible)

*       UI design experience an advantage (this is not a UI design role, but skills in this area are advantageous)

*       Experience with user testing and research sessions an advantage (prior experience conducting UX research workshops a benefit)
