Role Summary:

 

At Charles Tyrwhitt our purpose is to “Make it easy for men to dress well”. The primary purpose of Head of International Business Development is to support in the delivery of the Third-party growth strategy by introducing new business partnerships through multiple channel options, primarily across international markets.

 

The new business models will include Wholesale, Franchise, Concession, Consignment and Marketplace both online and offline.

 

In addition, the Head of International Business Development will own and cultivate the relationships with all partners, both new and existing, at senior management level and will represent Charles Tyrwhitt in all partner-facing activity.

 

This role will lead on the operational aspects of business development including Strategic planning, Retail Operations and Marketing/VM.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Business Development:

*       Work with Third Party International Director and International Commercial Planning and Trading Manager to deliver strategic objectives and financial KPI’s, growing new business and future pipeline through international, multi-channel partnerships  

*       Identify appropriate and specific new partnerships in accordance with the agreed strategic Third-Party growth plan

*       Understand the value proposition from the perspective of the target partner, formulating a commercial balance which satisfies Charles Tyrwhitt and the prospective partner

*       Understand the mechanics, demands and critical path of each operating model and channel to ensure the smooth planning and onboarding of new partners

*       Build a pipeline of new business, recognising the lead time from agreeing commercial terms to realising income and profit        

*       Pro-actively target identified partners through tactically astute approach methods, exploiting existing relationships, contacts, and networks

*       Support the Business Case Evaluation process, collating all necessary information to input into the full appraisal review

*       Understand opportunities and limitations when onboarding new partnerships planning integration timetable accordingly

 

Operations & Leadership:

*       Manage key internal stakeholders with anything relating to Third Party, including the execution of our Marketing strategy, Social and VM

*       Collaborate with the UK Retail Operations management team to ensure best practice principles and methods are deployed where necessary throughout our partnership network

*       Obtain and supply the required brand assets to produce the seasonal NuOrder Platform wholesale selling tool

*       Delegate appropriately within the Third-Party team and across other key stakeholder functions to ensure focus remains on business development and new partnerships

*       Act as the escalation point when necessary to resolve issues relating to all aspects of partnership management

*       Motivate, lead, and inspire internally and externally

 

Partners:

*       Present the brand to prospective new partners either in the UK or internationally as required

*       Collaborate with external store designers to develop retail propositions which reflect the latest CT UK brand concepts

*       Negotiate commercial and partnership terms as part of the New Business Development process

*       Support when required with contract reviews relating to new partnerships 

*       Conduct international partner and market visits to support business development and carry out assessments of brand operations

 

Person Specification:

 

Experience preferred but not essential

*       Experience in a central commercial/operational role within a multi-channel/model retailer

*       Proven Business Development results in a Wholesale/Franchise environment

*       Knowledge of Marketplace or D2C operating models

*       Knowledge of Concession, Consignment or Store operating models

*       Partner facing and relationship building track record  

*       Extensive knowledge of International Department stores, Platforms and Franchise operators

*       Awareness of the competitive retail landscape, including brand positioning

*       Understanding of range building and editing

*       Awareness of supply chain and logistics
